THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING ME HERE TODAY. I JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU A COUPLE OF THINGS ABOUT WHAT WE'RE DOING HERE TODAY. BEFORE WE GET STARTED. I PRESENT CARSON TO YOU. I AM THE CAREER COORDINATOR AT THE CLERK , ADVANCED LEARNING CENTER AND ALSO ADJUNCT FACULTY MEMBER AT INDIAN RIVER STATE COLLEGE. AS YOU MAY KNOW, CLARK ADVANCED LEARNING CENTERS OF PUBLIC CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL. THAT'S PART OF IRIS. SEE WE'RE LOCATED ON THE CHEST AIN'T CAMPUS ON SALERNO ROAD. WE HAVE ABOUT 250 STUDENTS 10TH THROUGH 12TH GRADE , AND I RUN THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR THESE STUDENTS. PART OF THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IS OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM THAT THEY COMPLETE DURING THE SENIOR YEAR. THERE ARE TWO COMPONENTS OF THAT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM. THE FIRST IS AN INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE, WHICH IS 60 HOURS. OBSERVATIONAL CAN INVOLVE A PROJECT IF THAT'S APPLICABLE, UM, WITH A BUSINESS PARTNER IN MARTIN COUNTY. SO I WORK WITH THE STUDENTS TO FIND A PLACEMENT FOR THEM. THAT'S AS CLOSELY RELATED AS POSSIBLE TO WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO DO. AND THEN THEY COMPLETE THAT 60 HOUR INTERNSHIP. THEY ALSO ALONG WITH THE INTERNSHIP, TAKE A CLASS WITH ME. IT'S CALLED PERSONAL CREW DEVELOPMENT. IT'S ONE OF THEIR DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES. IN THAT CLASS. I TAKE THEM THROUGH THE WHOLE CAREER DEVELOPMENT MODEL TO GIVE THEM ALL THE TOOLS THEY NEED FOR LIFE, LONG CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND CAREER PLANNING. SO WE START OUT DOING SOME SELF ASSESSMENT, LOOKING AT INTERESTS AND SKILLS AND PERSONALITY AND WORK VALUES AND HOW THOSE RELATE TO CHOOSING A CAREER. THEN WE START DOING CAREER RESEARCH TO GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO A DEEP DIVE INTO A CAREER OF INTEREST TO THEM, USUALLY TO KIND OF GO ALONG WITH THEIR INTERNSHIP, BUT SOMETIMES THEY DO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS. THEN WE GO THROUGH THINGS TO HELP THEM BE SUCCESSFUL PROFESSIONAL DOWN THE ROAD, SO WE TALKED ABOUT BUSINESS ETIQUETTE. INTERVIEWING RESUME COVER LETTER WRITING. SO WHAT YOU GET TO SEE TODAY I'M REALLY EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU ONE OF OUR STELLAR PERHAPS DON'T PRESENTATIONS FROM THIS YEAR. WHICH IS ACTUALLY ABOUT AN INTERNSHIP PROJECT. SO LIKE DR BOND SAID, I DID THIS FOR MY CAPSTONE PRESENTATION. AND, UM I WAS INTERESTED IN THREE D, R AND B EFFECTS, SO I DECIDED TO DO A TO TRY AND RECREATE A FAMOUS VISUAL EFFECTS SHOT FROM A MOVIE. SO I DECIDED TO DO THIS SCENE FROM THE MOVIE INCEPTION. WHERE THE CITY UM STREET IN PARIS FOLDS IN HALF. BUT I WANTED TO PUT A TWIST ON IT, SO I DECIDED TO MAKE IT DOWNTOWN STUART THAT FOLDS. HMM. MAN. HERE'S MY VIDEO. YEAH. YEAH. ABOUT. SO I STARTED WITH.

AH, JUST DO LIKE A QUICK BREAKDOWN OF HOW I MADE THIS FOR THE PROJECT. SO I STARTED WITH PRE VISUALIZATION, WHICH IS LIKE A STORY BOARDING FOR VFX. AND IT LET ME FIGURE OUT IF I'D BE ABLE TO DO THIS IN THE TIME CONSTRAINTS OF THE PROJECT. AND UM, LET ME BREAK DOWN THE MOTION TO FIGURE OUT HOW I WOULD DO THE FOLDING. SO I NOTICED TWO MOTIONS IN THE ORIGINAL. THE FIRST ONE WAS LIKE A BOOK HINGING MOTION WHERE THE BACK PART FOLDS OVER TO THE FRONT PART. AND THE SECOND WAS LIKE IT BENDS AND THEN FLATTENS OUT ONCE IT REACHES THE TOP. SO I COMBINED THOSE TWO AND MADE A QUICK TEST AND THEN I FIGURED THAT I COULD DO IT IN THE TIME.

SO THEN I WANTED TO FIGURE OUT HOW I COULD MAKE THE CITY HAVE ALL THE BUILDINGS AND EVERYTHING THAT LOOKS SOMEWHAT REALISTIC. SO I LOOKED AT HOW THEY DID IT IN THE ORIGINAL, AND I FOUND AN INTERVIEW WHERE THEY SAID THAT THEIR TEAM WENT TO PARIS AND TOOK AROUND 250,000 PHOTOS.

SCANNING THE STREET WITH THE LIDAR SCANNER. SO I THOUGHT THAT SOUNDED LIKE A COMBINATION OF TWO METHODS LIKE PHOTOGRAPH A TREE AND LIDAR. UM AND I WANTED TO TRY DOING IT THE SAME WAY SO BASICALLY HOW IT WORKS IS YOU GIVE A COMPUTER HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF PHOTOS AND THEN IT CREATES A THREE D MODEL OF WHATEVER YOU TOOK THE IMAGES OF SO I TOOK AROUND 2000 PHOTOS OF OSCEOLA STREET. AND THERE'S ME WALKING AROUND. PROBABLY GETTING SOME WEIRD LOOKS, UM THE PICTURES OF YOU. PLEASANT. SO ONCE I HAD THOSE 2000 PHOTOS, I RAN THEM THROUGH AN APP CALLED POLY CAM, WHICH WAS ABLE TO GIVE ME THREE D MODELS OF EVERY BUILDING THAT I SCAN. SO I DON'T KNOW. THERE'S SOMETIMES LIKE HOLES AND ERRORS IN THE SCANS. SO YOU HAVE TO FIX THOSE. ALSO THE SECOND FLOOR IS IN THE ROOFS WEREN'T INCLUDED, BECAUSE I COULDN'T REACH UP AND SKIN THAT STUFF. SO I MANUALLY RECREATED THOSE USUALLY USING A SINGLE PICTURE OF THE BUILDING LIKE THAT ONE. AND I ENDED UP WITH BUILDINGS LIKE THIS FOR EVERY BUILDING THAT I SCANNED. SO INSIDE A BUNCH OF THOSE, I ASSEMBLED THEM INTO A STREET LAYOUT. IT DOESNT PERFECTLY MATCH STEWART, BUT IT'S SHOULD HOPEFULLY CONVEY THE IDEA. AND, UM I ONLY CREATED THE AREAS THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE. AND FOR ANY THREE D STUFF IN THIS PROJECT, I USED A PROGRAM CALLED UNDER WHICH IS GREAT FOR STUDENTS BECAUSE IT'S COMPLETELY FREE AND DONATION BASED. SO ONCE I HAD THIS, THE BUILDINGS AND THE FOLDING WORKING, I NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHTING BECAUSE, UM, IF YOU THINK OF LIKE THE BACK PART OF THE CITY, BEING ON TOP OF THE BOTTOM PART WOULD BE COMPLETELY BLACK IN THERE BECAUSE THE SUNLIGHT CAN'T GET SO I LOOKED AT HOW THEY FIXED THAT IN THE ORIGINAL. AND THEY SAID THAT THEY BASICALLY USED FOUR SEPARATE SONS, AND THEY EACH LET IT FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE. SO I DID SOMETHING SIMILAR. BUT I JUST USED TWO SONS WANT TO LET THE BOTTOM AND WANT TO LIKE THE TOP. AND I LET LIGHT PASS THROUGH THE BOTTOM BECAUSE IT'S NOT REAL. YOU CAN DO THINGS LIKE HAVE MULTIPLE SONS. AND ONCE I HAD THE LIGHTING FIXED, I ADDED STUFF TO MAKE IT FEEL A LITTLE BIT MORE LIVE NOT JUST A BUNCH OF BUILDINGS. I ADDED VEHICLES DRIVING ON THE ROADS, AND I ALSO ADDED SOME PEOPLE WALKING ON THE SIDEWALKS. AND THEN, UM, ONCE YOU GET THE FINAL IMAGE, IT LOOKED A LITTLE BIT DULL AND THERE WAS NO SOUND OR ANYTHING. SO I HAD TO ADD THAT WHICH HELPS MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT'S ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING. AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO CALL A GREAT IT SO THAT IT WENT FROM SOMETHING MORE DULL TO SOMETHING THAT LOOKED A LITTLE BIT MORE LIKE FLORIDA, HOPEFULLY. SO THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO PRESENT. WE HAVE TRACKS AND UTILITIES AND ENGINEERING, PUBLIC WORKS, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, HR AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION. EACH INTERNSHIP CONSISTS OF 60 HOURS , AND WE RECENTLY HOSTED A STUDENT IN THE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION TRACK, WHICH IS PERHAPS THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE OF THEM ALL. STEPHEN WEISS HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPEND FULL OR HALF DAYS WITH THE CITY MANAGER, THE CITY ATTORNEY POLICE FIRE RESCUE UTILITIES AND ENGINEERING PUBLIC WORKS, COMMUNITY SERVICES AND HR HE ALSO ATTENDED A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING SESSION BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE I F F STEPHEN EXPRESSED FASCINATION WITH EVERY EXPERIENCE AND A DESIRE TO LEARN MORE. IT WAS A PLEASURE FOR ME TO MEET WITH HIM AT THE BEGINNING AND CONCLUSION OF EACH OF HIS DAYS TO CAPTURE THAT ENTHUSIASM. STEPHEN WAS AN EXCEPTIONAL INTERN, AND WE SAY HE SET THE BAR. IS FOR LETTER CARRIERS. STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE. MAY 14TH 2022. WHEREAS EVERY YEAR ON THE SECOND SATURDAY IN MAY, LETTER CARRIERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY COLLECT NON PERISHABLE FOOD AS PART OF THE NATION'S LARGEST ONE DAY FOOD DRIVE, DISTRIBUTING THE DONATIONS TO LOCAL FOOD BANKS.

AND WHEREAS THE LETTER CARRIERS STAMP OUT FOOD HUNGER DRIVE IS JUST ONE EXAMPLE OF HOW LETTER CARRIERS WORK TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF THOSE THEY SERVE. AND IT WAS THE MOTIVATION AND THE VISION OF HARDWORKING VOLUNTEERS AND ARE WELL ESTABLISHED PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY THAT HELPED ACCOMPLISH THESE THINGS, AND WE WORK AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING. AND GROWING THIS RELATIONSHIP FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. AND A FUND STATISTIC THAT I CAME UPON. IS IN 2021, WHICH WAS AN OFF YEAR FOR MOST OF US ARE BORED AND OUR COMMITTEES HAD A COMBINED VOLUNTEER HOUR OF 4500 HOURS. WHICH MOSTLY COMES FROM ART WITHIN OUR PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE. FOR PLANNING AND EXECUTING OUR ANNUAL EVENTS. THIS IS AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF 126,000 AND VOLUNTEER HOURS AND WE'RE ALREADY ON PACE TO FAR EXCEED THAT THIS YEAR. SO WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO? IT WAS ACTUALLY MENTIONED IN STAFFS REPORT THAT TRIP GENERATION IDENTIFIED AS IF IT'S PURELY RESIDENTIAL WILL BE 237 UNITS, NOT THE NUMBER THAT WAS REFERENCED UP HERE. UM ALSO, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT AS PART OF THE SITE PLAN, I DO THINK THAT WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT.
