UM SO BEFORE WE START, I WAS JUST WONDERING IF WE HAVE ANY HOCKEY FANS UP ON THE DESK. NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE ANYONE STANLEY CUP STUFF? HAND ALRIGHT. I CAN'T TELL YOU WHO THE COMMERCIALS FOR BUTT THEY WERE INTERVIEWING ALL OF THESE DIFFERENT HOCKEY PLAYERS FROM THE PAST YEAR AND JUST SNIPPETS AND THEY WERE PUTTING ALL THESE SNIPPETS TOGETHER. AND SO THEY KEPT ASKING THEM A QUESTION. WHY YOU KNOW WHY ARE YOU GUYS HERE? AND SO EVERY HOCKEY PLAYER BASICALLY WAS SAYING, WELL, WE DID THIS AND THEN WHAT? THIS PLAN WAS CREATED AND ESTABLISHED IN 2013 AFTER MULTIPLE WORKSHOPS WITH THE PUBLIC, THE CITY STAFF AND THE COMMISSION. THE COMMISSION AT THAT TIME, LED BY THEN MAYOR YOU LOOK CLARK AND THEN VICE MAYOR. TROY MCDONALD'S DETAILED PLAN INCLUDED FOUR OVERARCHING GAL'S 10 OBJECTIVES AND 23 ACTIONABLE STRATEGIES THAT CAN BE CONSIDERED DELIVERABLES. YOUR BACKUP MATERIAL OFFERS THE COMPLETE AND VERY CONCISE UPDATES FOR THOSE 23 ACTIONABLE DELIVERABLES. FOR YOUR PLEASURE, AND MOSTLY FOR THE PUBLIC'S BENEFIT TONIGHT. WITHIN THE STRATEGIC PLAN ITSELF . THE AUTHOR MEMORIALIZED WHY THE CITY DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO CREATE A NEW STRATEGIC PLAN. I'M NOT BIG ON READING SLIDES. WE ONLY HAVE A COUPLE THAT I'LL BE DOING THIS WITH BUT IN AN EFFORT TO STAY SPECIFIC TO YOUR PLAN, LET'S GO THROUGH IT. SO NUMBER ONE. THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN DOES NOT INCLUDE STRATEGIC DIRECTION. NUMBER TWO, THE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, WHICH YOU KNOW AS A THEORY A WHILE CONTAINING STRATEGIC ELEMENTS IS NOT CITY WIDE. THE MAYOR AND COMMISSION HAVE EMBRACED STRATEGY PLANNING AS A DESIRED LEADERSHIP TOOL. AND THE MULTITUDE OF CITY PROJECTS, INCLUDING THOSE IN EARLY CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLANS NEED TO BE UPDATED. AND COORDINATED TO ACHIEVE FOCUSED AND DESIRED RESULTS INSTEAD OF SCATTERED BENEFITS, SO THAT WAS SPECIFICALLY MEMORIALIZED WITHIN THE PLAN ITSELF. THIS IS A REALLY NEAT GRAPHIC, AND I SAW IT WITHIN THE CMA, THE INTERNATIONAL CITY AND COUNTY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION'S MAGAZINE, AND THAT MAGAZINE IS CALLED PUBLIC MANAGEMENT. UM IT REALLY JUST GIVES YOU A SNAPSHOT OF WHO OWNS THE STRATEGIC PLAN ONCE IT'S CREATED. AND JUST TO MAKE SURE WE GIVE THE PROPER CREDIT. THIS WAS PUBLISHED IN AN ARTICLE, UM, BY AND IT WAS WRITTEN BY MANAGER MIKE BAKER FROM DOWNERS GROVE, ILLINOIS. IT'S A HIGH LEVEL HIGH PERFORMING ORGANIZATION WHEN YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE FACT THAT THE 10 YEAR PLAN WAS ACCOMPLISHED IN THE EIGHT YEARS AND WE'LL GO THROUGH THAT, AND I'M HOPING THAT YOU AGREE AS WELL. AND BASED ON THE REVIEW OF THE DETAILED PROGRESS OVER THE PAST EIGHT PLUS YEARS. STAFF BELIEVES A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF YOUR PLAN HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. MY HOPE HERE TONIGHT IS AFTER REVIEW OF THE BACKUP MATERIAL THAT I PROVIDED FOR YOU. THE PRESENTATION OF AND REALLY, WHAT EACH ONE OF, YOU KNOW PERSONALLY. THROUGH BUSINESS FRIENDLY ENTREPRENEURIAL ENVIRONMENT AND LIFESTYLES ENRICHED BY CULTURAL ARTS, SPORTS AND RECREATION, EDUCATION , SPECIAL EVENTS AND CELEBRATIONS. AND LASTLY, BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH ATTRACTIVE INFRASTRUCTURE TO ENHANCE URBAN AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS. SO. WITH AFTER WE GO THROUGH THE GOALS THEMSELVES AND I'LL BE TOUCHING ON THE OBJECTIVES.
