WE'RE GOING TO DO A 3 TO 5 MINUTE PRESENTATION ON THE BIRDS THAT WE HAVE HERE IN MARTIN COUNTY JUST TO SHOW YOU SOME OF THE ARTISTIC BEAUTY THAT WE HAVE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF WITH ALL OF THESE BIRDS IS THEY ALSO REPRESENT TREMENDOUS ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR US AS A COUNTY IF WE ARE ABLE TO PRESERVE THESE BIRDS, AND AGAIN, ALL THESE PICTURES HAVE BEEN HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN MARTIN COUNTY AS THE FIRST PICTURE THAT YOU SEE HERE IS A FLOCK. BLACK ABILITY, WHISTLING DUCKS, WHICH HAD BECOME A VERY, VERY POPULAR HERE IN THIS COUNTY JUST IN THE LAST FIVE OR 10 MINUTES YEARS ARE ONE OF THE GREAT EGRETS THAT WE HAVE HERE IN THIS COUNTY. WE HAVE HUNDREDS OF THESE IN OUR COUNTY. AND THE INTERESTING THING ABOUT OUR BIRDS HERE IN FLORIDA IS THAT DURING THIS THE WINTER SEASON WE HAVE PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE THE STATE OF FLORIDA COME DOWN TO TWO CR BIRDS, AND THEY COME DOWN BY THE TENS OF THOUSANDS. SO LIKE I SAID, WHEN, WHEN, WHEN WE HAVE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY WITH OUR BIRDING, I REALLY MEAN THAT WE CAN HAVE ALL KINDS OF OPPORTUNITIES IS AS LONG AS WE KEEP OUR ENVIRONMENT CLEAN. CRESTED CARROT CARE IS ONE OF THE RARE BIRDS WE HAVE HERE IN FLORIDA THAT PEOPLE I WOULD ALMOST GIVE THEIR RIGHTS TO BE ABLE TO SEE. IT'S THE LARGEST OF THE FALCON FAMILY. THIS WAS TAKEN OUT AT LAKESIDE RANCH STORMWATER TREATMENT AREA AND MARTIN COUNTY'S FAR WESTERN SIDE. AN INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL BIRD. UH AND YOU KNOW THE PICTURES DON'T DO IT. JUSTICE IS THAT SIMPLE? ROSIE'S SPOONBILLS . PEOPLE TAKE ONE LOOK AT THAT. AND THEY SAY, OH, IT'S A FLAMINGO. IT'S NOT IT'S A SPOONBILL THAT HAS AN INCREDIBLE STORY TO TELL IN AND OF ITSELF. IN THE 19 FORTIES, THERE WERE ONLY 15 PAIR OF SPOONBILLS. THEY WERE LEFT IN OUR STATE BECAUSE THEY HAD ALL BEEN KILLED FOR THEIR WINGS TO BE TURNED INTO LADIES FANS, BUT AGAIN THAT JUST THE SHEER BEAUTY OF THAT BIRD, ESPECIALLY WITH THE SUN BEHIND IT, AND CATCHING AND CATCHING THE PINK COLORATION IS JUST SPECTACULAR. AH THE OSPREY, AND WE'RE ONE OF ONLY THREE PLACES IN THE ENTIRE WORLD WHERE WE HAVE OSPREYS YEAR ROUND AND THE OSPREY IS JUST AN INCREDIBLY MAJESTIC BIRD. TO WATCH AN OSPREY DIVE INTO THE WATER FEET FIRST AND COME OUT WITH WITH FISH SUCH AS THIS IS IT REALLY ON INSPIRING MOMENT AND THAT WAS PRIVILEGED ENOUGH TO HAVE THIS PHOTOGRAPH WHEN A BIRD CONTEST TWO YEARS AGO WITH THE TREASURE COAST PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB. BUT THE SHEER POWER THAT THIS VERY DISPLAYS IT'S JUST INCREDIBLE. REDDISH EGRETS ARE EXTREMELY RARE, BUT WE HAVE THEM HERE IN MARTIN COUNTY, AND THEY ARE EXTREMELY EXPRESSIVE. THESE THREE PICTURES THAT I HAVE HERE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. FROM LEFT EGG. I CALL THAT THE FLAMENCO DANCER AT THE CENTER PICTURE IS VICTORIA'S SECRET AND PRETTY OBVIOUS REASONS. AND THE THIRD IS THE TANGO THERE SO, BUT THIS IS TAKEN RIGHT ON OUR BEACHES HERE, YOU KNOW, IN MARTIN COUNTY . UH SWALLOW TAILED KITE IS JUST ANOTHER INCREDIBLY MAJESTIC BIRD THAT PEOPLE DRIVE HUNDREDS OF MILES TO BE ABLE TO SEE AND WE HAVE THEM HERE IN MARTIN COUNTY. IT'S A HAWK. ARE THAT WILL CAPTURE THINGS ON THE WING, AND

IT EATS ITS EATS ITS PREY ON THE WING. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH TO COME UP FROM SOUTH AMERICA TO NEST HERE IN SOUTH FLORIDA, AND WE HAVE THEM IN OUR COUNTY BY THE HUNDREDS. AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE A SNAIL KITE SNAIL. KITE IS ONE OF THE MOST ENDANGERED BIRDS IN ALL OF FLORIDA, BUT BECAUSE OF OUR RELATIONSHIP THAT AUDUBON AND MARTIN COUNTY HAS WITH THE SOUTH FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT, WE ALLOW PUBLIC ACCESS INTO THE LAKESIDE RANCH STORMWATER TREATMENT AREA, WHICH IS ON THE FAR WESTERN SIDE OF THE OF OUR COUNTY. AND IT HAS BECOME A MAGNET FOR SNAIL KITES . THEY LITERALLY GO INTO THE WATER AND THEY PICK OUT SNAILS AND THAT'S ALL THEY EAT. THEY JUST EAT ESCARGOT, WOULDN'T YOU? YOU KNOW, AND WE HAVE TO GO TO THE CRUISE SHIP TO GET ESCARGOT.

BUT THESE GUYS HAVE IT ALL THE TIME. LEAVE YOU WITH ONE FINAL PICTURE, AND THIS IS IN MY OWN BACKYARD PAINTED BUNTINGS AND AGAIN, ANOTHER BIRD JUST ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING, BUT INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL. JUST LIKE ALL THESE OTHER BIRDS ARE THIS IS A BIRD THAT IS ONLY 4.5 TO 5 INCHES LONG 14 TO 16 G IN WEIGHT , AND YET IT MIGRATES FROM FROM FLORIDA AND EVEN AS FAR AS CUBA UP TO NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA, WHERE IT BREEDS, AND THEN IT COMES BACK DOWN INTO OUR STATE.

MARTIN COUNTY HAS THESE BY THE BUCKET FALLS. AND IF YOU'VE EVER SEEN A PAINTED BUNTING, YOU'RE JUST ABSOLUTELY TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY WITH THE COLORATION ON THAT ON THAT BIRD. SO IN CLOSING. I JUST WANTED A NUMBER ONE. I CAN PROBABLY GET YOU SOME EXPERT HELP, AND SHE'S ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A REASON TO COME BACK TO STUDENTS WERE DEFINITELY WANTING TO GO FORWARD. WHEREAS THE MARINE INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION OF THE TREASURE COAST INK AND THE FLORIDA INLAND NAVIGATION DISTRICT ARE DEEPLY CONCERNED WITH KEEPING THE TREASURE COAST WATERWAYS CLEAN FOR ALL TO ENJOY , AND WHEREAS SINCE THE BEGINNING OVER 10. TONS OF TRASH HAVE BEEN COLLECTED FROM APPROXIMATELY 125 MILES OF WATERWAYS. THERE WILL BE 31 DESIGNATED SITES THROUGHOUT THE THREE COUNTIES THAT WILL SERVE AS REGISTRATION AND DISPOSAL SITES FOR THE VOLUNTEERS TO WORK OUT OF THERE WILL ALSO BE A VIRTUAL CLEANUP THAT ALLOWS VOLUNTEERS TO CLEAN UP ON THEIR OWN AND REPORT THEIR PROGRESS ONLINE. IMPROVING THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF PEOPLE WHO LIVE NEAR PARKS ENCOURAGES PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES BY PROVIDING SPACE FOR POPULAR SPORTS, HIKING TRAILS, FITNESS PROGRAMS AND MANY OTHER ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO PROMOTE ACTIVE LIFESTYLES. THAT IS A REQUIREMENT RAID ADMINISTRATION TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR CREW ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE TERRITORY SO THEY CAN START TRAINING AND THEN OPERATING. THE MARINE COMMUNITY IN BROWARD COUNTY IS A $6 BILLION INDUSTRY . THAT IS THE ONLY BRIDGE RIGHT NOW. THAT BRIGHT LINE CURRENTLY TRAVERSES THAT IS OVER NAVIGABLE WATERWAY, AND SO WE WORKED WITH THEM TO IDENTIFY. WHAT WHAT WORKED. WHAT DIDN'T WHAT DID THEY WANT TO SEE?
